Commissioner Andriola's Next Swing Under “Writ of Mandamus”
A recap of our recent reporting plus bonus content.
“Writ of Mandamus” is an order from a court to a lower government official ordering that person to properly fulfill their official duties or correct an abuse of discretion.
A petition by the Nevada Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar, which directly names Republican County Commissioners Clara Andriola, Mike Clark and Jeanne Herman as respondents, is seeking just that swiftly from the Nevada Supreme Court, to force them to join their two Democratic counterparts and certify the currently still disputed June primary recount results and move on to November.
Andriola who initially pleased Clark and recount funder, political agitator Robert Beadles, with her vote not to certify earlier this week, has already requested this non certified matter to now be reconsidered at their next county meeting July 16th, setting the table for her to say that after looking into it more closely she will now vote to approve the results.
The Andriola wiffle waffle if it happens as we predict, unless court actions move even faster, will have put Washoe County in the national spotlight ahead of November voting, with non certifying county commissions a new method to muddy election results as announced by registrars of voters.
After posting “We Won A Battle,” Beadles has already been busy again on his Operation Sunlight website, pivoting to a new post called “Andriola, the Coward,” reading the tea leaves much as we do, in his case bemoaning the new looming vote to certify.
Another Beadles post from today laments how Aguilar and Attorney General Aaron Ford, both Democrats, are moving quickly to certify rather than investigate any “mishaps,” as Andriola initially alleged but didn’t clarify while voting against certifying.
Judge Kathleen Drakulich has already rejected one of the recount candidates wanting a hand recount, instead of how the recount was done by law, while a similar petition by Mark Lawson vying for Andriola’s seat is scheduled for July 16th as well before Judge Kathleen Sigurdson.
Andriola was initially appointed by Governor Joe Lombardo as a replacement commissioner, and has angered local factions of the Republican Party by occasionally voting with the two Democratic Party commissioners.
