"J" Jacobs Entertainment Keeps Giving Money to Mayor, while Receiving More Noise Complaints from Neighbors
With the fed to media hoopla and all over the place social media commentary surrounding the Sands becoming the J Resort with a planned $400 million renovation, we wanted to check in if Jacobs Entertainment had been generous to our Mayor Hillary Schieve during her most recent election run.
Turns out the Colorado headquartered company was extremely generous, giving $10,000 in the space of two days in mid October via their Gold Dust casino entities.
As we noted previously on our Substack, Jacobs Entertainment entities have donated thousands of dollars in recent years to another council member Devon Reese, while doing the same for abruptly departed former elected officials Oscar Delgado and Neoma Jardon, whose replacements were hand picked by the council itself.
This Jacobs election money keeps pouring in as the much touted and always gets yes votes before City Council Neon Line District remains fenced off empty lots, a small festival ground, new parking and a few refurbishments, with several bought out and destroyed motels, which used to be the only housing accessible for hundreds of lower income Reno residents, flattened out memories.
The Glow Plaza is promising more events at its corner 4th street location in the months ahead but neighbors in the area are already complaining about that, as well as installed speakers around its nearby statues, occasionally playing non stop music. Several of these complaints have come from people living at the still standing Desert Rose Inn, across the street.
Here’s a recent email from another angry neighbor: “This is a MAJOR SERIOUS NOISE COMPLAINT forced upon the people next to place where the use of loud booming BASS for hours on end which causes residents of the apartment building to be unable to enjoy the use of their residences for rest and relaxation and enjoyment of music, TV or sleep! This is also a health issue, causing severe migraines and heart arrhythmias and the falling of items off the walls of the apartment with constant noise repetition. This is a problem that needs to be resolved. I believe there is a noise ordinance and the amount of time this continues. It would be appreciated if you would please look into this matter. Residents of this city and the apartment complex next to the BASS set up, deserve to live in their residences without interruption to their lives…”
