A recent Reno subreddit prompt by sandwichdepression asked “What’s a business in Reno you wish existed?” which led to a barrage of interesting answers of what’s missing in general from the 775.
One of the most upvoted answers was by blubirdie wanting the Aldi German supermarket chain, Ikea and lots more doctors here.
The doctor suggestion got a slew of replies from frustrated waitlisted parents with their referrals expiring.
Other leading answers sought a not so expensive but still good dim sum restaurant, a decent croissant that won’t blow your wallet, a self help garage for car work, a good Asian supermarket, an air museum or even an aviation inspired coffee shop, a Daiso, a Yard House, an aquarium, a recreational marijuana consumption lounge, a Jollibee, a Crate and Barrel, additional psychiatric hospitals for the uninsured, a White Castle, a Shakey’s Pizza, decent public transportation, a PC gaming center, and good Puerto Rican food.
That’s a lot to unpack and deliver.
Since it went in multiple directions, we would add more walkable areas in urban cores, safe parking areas for those living in their vehicles, more trash cans, wash stations and public toilets in parks and downtown areas, and of course way more accessible, affordable housing, whatever is needed to make that happen, and not stop working until it does.
While we are at it, why not more transparency from our elected officials and government managers so that we can determine if they are really working for the benefit of the community, or if it’s sadly for their own ego trips and backroom deals to remain as powerful, well compensated, cliquish, back scratching affluent figures.
What do you think Reno needs?
